Most of you know that my work out regimen has been pretttyyy bad lately but despite that fact, I’m participating in a mud run with a group of friends THIS weekend! I must have blacked out or something when I signed up because as much fun as hauling myself over barriers and running through mud sounds let’s face it, I’m weak and feeble. My days of being actively involved in track and field and soccer are long gone and getting myself to the gym is more like going to the dentist. I actually love running but after I moved to SF, it’s been really hard to get motivated. All the streets have stoplights so you have to run. stop. run. stop. jog across the intersection. stop. Yeah, yeah…I know…all excuses! Someone slap me. I think I’ll get over this self loathing though and just freaking work out!!! RIGHT? Right. And then I’m [Continue Reading...]
Today I’m guest blogging over at 52 Kitchen Adventures! I was super excited when Steph asked me to be a part of The Chocolate Chipe Cookie Challenge. I made brown butter chocolate chunk cookies, and they’re pretty tasty if you ask me :) I talk about my favorite method for baking cookies, which results in perfectly baked cookies every time, as well as the key ingredients that will make your chocolate chip cookies stand out from the rest. The best part about this challenge is that you’re invited to participate as well! To read my guest post and to get the recipe for these brown butter chocolate chunk cookies, click here. Happy Monday!
Oh, hey! Happy July! My friends and I have this summer jam packed with fun things to do so things have been a little crazy (but very fun!) around here. Last weekend we went to Breastfest in SF (a beer festival that gives its proceeds to low-income women with breast cancer). This is the 2nd year in a row we’ve attended, and we had a blast. Let me tell you what would have made this past weekend even more spectacular…this blueberry pie. I’m not even trying to brag about my old roomie’s blueberry farm, but I can’t help it. These are seriously the best blueberries I’ve ever tasted! Damn. And it makes me sad to think that blueberry season (in California) is coming to an end soon. Fortunately, blueberry pie tastes just as spectacular with frozen blueberries so this recipe is a keeper regardless of what time of the year you [Continue Reading...]
We get excited!! These pictures are from two weekends ago (Cinco de Mayo weekend) but I just had to share them. The weather was insanely gorgeous and there was just so much going on! With the entire city of San Francisco celebrating Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby, it was hard to choose which events to attend! We opted to just hang out around the Mission District with friends and head to Dolores Park because there was a huge Cinco de Mayo event going on there. Then on Sunday, we decided to walk around the Mission for Sunday Streets! Sunday Streets is a neighborhood festival where they close down the roads in a SF neighborhood every first Sunday of the month for live music, booths, food specials, and other fun stuff. Here’s a glimpse of what happens when it’s sunny in SF: I think everyone else had the same idea [Continue Reading...]
Some days just are just off days. So for the days when it downpours and you forget your umbrella, your coffee that you hadn’t even taken one sip of falls out of your hand and spills all over the floor, or when your bank account happens to be much lower than you remember, I have something for you. For the trip you spent so much time planning that isn’t happening anymore, that day you find a parking ticket on your car, or even better, your car breaks down and you find out you have to drop a pretty penny to fix it. That day you feel guilty about not spending more time with your family, avoiding a messy house when you know it will only take 20 minutes to clean, or the day where just nothing seems to fit. For days like those, there are these lemon bars. These lemon [Continue Reading...]
