How to Make the Ultimate Football Snackadium

New Year’s resolutions schmesolutions. Football season is in full swing! If you want to have the most memorable Super Bowl party ever, this snackadium is the key to success. The best part is that it’s so much fun to make! Get a group together before the big game and have some fun with it. The sky’s the limit… Materials:  1 foam board (or big piece of cardboard) for the bottom Large pieces of cardboard to construct the walls/stands 2 small disposable bread loaf pans 1 large disposable cake pan 4 tall glasses Packing tape or masking tape Scissors (an exacto knife would be handy too if you have one) Construction paper Toothpicks Aluminum Foil FOOD! The FB Cookie Swap: Cranberry Hazelnut Cookies Drizzled with Chocolate

Exactly one year ago, I posted my gingersnaps with chai icing and crystalized ginger for the 2011 Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap.  Time has really flown by and I’m happy to be participating in the cookie swap once again! One of my favorite things about this event (hosted by Love and Olive Oil and The Little Kitchen) is that thousands of cookies are flying in the air all at once! It’s an amazing thought if you think about it. This year, we were also required to donate $4 to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer  upon sign up which I think is a great idea! What’s even better is that OXO is going to match the amount raised. :) I also received 3 dozen cookies in return! Thanks Brigitt from cook With B for the Black and White Cookies, Christina from The Dough Will Rise Again for the chewy ginger sparklers, and Karla from Forty Cakes for [Continue Reading...]

Quick Power Breakfast: Overnight Oats

My first mud run was a success! …if you count crossing the finish line as a success haha. But really, it was so much fun! We crawled through mud pits, jumped into the beautiful Sacramento River, and rewarded ourselves with ice cold Sierra Nevada beers afterward (yep, Sierra Nevada was one of the sponsors for the event!). Plus, our outfits were so awesome that the mud just came right off! Here is a pic of us post-run. Shiny, right? Now, I wish I could say that the success of the mud run was due to my diligence in working out and training beforehand. However, this would be a damn lie. I tried! I SWEAR. I did run a lot the week before but I can’t say I did much else. AND I had a terrible cough that still hasn’t gone away. But I am convinced that these overnight oats helped [Continue Reading...]

Firecracker Shrimp Rolls

You guys, I really wanted sit down and write this post about the spicy, deep-fried shrimp rolls I made but then I got distracted with a phone app called Pair. Have you ever used it? If not, IT’S GREAT! Great at sucking up all of my time that is. So basically, you pair up with ONE person…and only that person. (If you change your mind and want to pair with someone else, you pretty much have to break up with your pair via the app.) Then when you have your pair, you can send each other private messages, share photos, record short little video clips, send drawings, and…are you ready for this? You can even THUMB KISS. Obviously, this app is meant for romantic couples that can’t always spend time together but let me tell you something…pairing up with your best friend is EVEN BETTER! I’m paired with Megan, and [Continue Reading...]

The San Francisco Street Food Festival

What do San Franciscans love the most? STREET FESTIVALS! (And brunch.) Last weekend was the Street Food Festival in SF where a ton of food trucks and restaurants come and dish out delicious food. It was great because each booth generally has a small item ($3), a larger dish ($8), and and drink ($3) making it pretty easy to try a good amount of food between a small group of people. The food? Delicious. Weekends like this one make me appreciate San Francisco more than I already do. Pro Tip: Get there early. The lines get crazy! And bring friends so you can try their food. This festival was also filled with adorable dogs and babies galore. Major bonus. Happy housemates. Not so happy funnel cake. Oops… Such an awesome way to spend an afternoon. Stuffing my face. Then Abby (my housemate) and I proceeded to Whole Foods afterwards, bought [Continue Reading...]
