Blackberry Mint Spritzer

This week was a two dinners in one night kind of week. Literally. Pad Thai at 5:30pm and then 3 amazingly delicious pizzas (split between 9 of us) around 9pm on a Wednesday night. I mean, my co-workers and I were hanging out in North Beach and since that neighborhood is the home of Little Italy, we had to check out Tony’s Pizza. I don’t regret a thing. And yeah, my co-workers love food as much as I do!  It’s awesome. This week I watched the Great Gatsby! That soundtrack is…wack. I mean it’s good, but it’s weird. Jay-Z produced it? I can tell. Overall, I liked the movie though. There were a few scenes that didn’t fit but it was a good movie! Now when I see a pic of Leo I can’t imagine him without his Jay Gatsby accent…old sport. UC Davis Picnic Day 2012

If I stand behind my beliefs and the entire existence of this blog, then “life tastes like food”. Life should be adventurous, bold, daring, and enjoyable. It should be sweet, savory, meaningful, and tasty. I’ve been so wrapped up with work that I have forgotten to enjoy these bites of life lately. Until last weekend, that is. Don’t get me wrong, I love the feeling of working hard as well but sometimes taking personal time to just enjoy the company of others is much needed. Step back. Take a breath. Smile. Sit. Enjoy. Last weekend, I took a break from my weekly routine and spent some time back in Davis with a group of my closest friends. Spring, Sunshine, and Salad

The sun is out, the air is warm, and I’m stuck with a cold!! What?! I survived the entire winter without getting fully sick at all, but it finally caught up to me in these first couple weeks of Spring! So, instead of cooking and baking, I have been tossing back cough drops, Robitussin and a ridiculous amout of hot tea–not exactly my ideal diet. Despite my runny nose and embarrassingly loud cough, I am still determined to enjoy the beautiful weather outside and stay productive! The transition from Winter to Spring is so wonderful because the flowers start blooming, flip flops, pool weather, and tons of ice cream are so clearly in sight. This is also around the time where salad becomes one of my favorite meals to enjoy outside as those warm sun rays hit my shoulders. This tofu and broccoli salad in particular is light and healthy.
